Dollar Store Hoppin'...

My mother and I had a chance to hang out together.  She doesn't live far from me, but since we are both teachers AND my children are grown and out of the house, we don't seem to see each other as much.  Weird, huh?

We did a little "Dollar Store Hoppin'" (sing it like "Kung Fu Fighting" LOL!!).  I went a little crazy trying to plan for STAAR Writing practice games, etc.  I did have some good finds at one of the stores.  However, we ended up at Walmart.  It is NOT the best place for me because I intend to spend $10 and end up spending $100!!! Every. Time.  And I'm not crazy about the place, either!!!!  That's what's sad!

Here are a few of my "finds".  The first picture shows everything I picked up.

 The next few are close ups of things I need to find a job for! The first one...treasure box items for game winners????  Black flat stones to use as worry stones in the STAAR Survival Kit???

New highlighters for practice and for STAAR.  (They can use highlighters...YES)  Storage bags to use as the STAAR Survival Kit ....kit??????? LOL.  Candy for little sayings on cards throughout the week...

Colored printer paper and regular paper for the great graphics and fonts I've downloaded!  I'll use them to make games and posters!  Shiny paper clips (my prize $ store find) for paper clip book marks.  A large spinner, colored little papers, colored stickers, and giant index cards for ???????

Friday, I will hit Target and Hobby Lobby.  I'm going to get some felt and make a Sorting Hat for our writing day on Friday!!

I wanted to get started tomorrow, but I had to order my ink from Amazon because Walmart was out of HP 74/75.  They are ALWAYS out.  I think everyone in this area needs the same printer ink as my family!!!! It will be here Thursday, so I will make but not print yet.  (That's not as much fun! :/ )

I need to type this up and put it in a frame in my classroom.  Between people who talk about weight all the time (and eat a cracker and 1/2 a cherry tomato for lunch) and kids who make fun of others, this sign would hit the spot!
