JACKPOT!!!

About a month ago, when I started pinning on Pinterest, one of the first things I pinned was a bookmark paperclip.  I thought it was a really cool idea.

It wasn't until I started blogging that I found out this idea came from the teacher blog, Clutter-Free Classroom .

Well, tonight I decided to look through my daughter's old things to see if there was anything I could use for my classroom.  Low and behold....JACKPOT!!!  My daughter had tons of old hair ribbons that she wore for softball, volleyball, and just the sheer cuteness factor.  Of course, she's in college and married, so she no longer uses them.  She also had a bag of old friendship bracelet twine.  Here is what I found:

Can you feel the excitement in my typing??????!!!!!!!!!  HOLY GUACAMOLE!!!!!  So I started making these awesome bookmarks using these fantabulous metallic jumbo paperclips I found at the Dollar Tree yesterday!
Here are my semi-final bookmarks.  I still need to clean them up a little:
With my treasures, I spent 1.42 cents for each bookmark!!!! YES!!!!  I plan to give them to my students as a STAAR prize...I'm attaching them to a "spirit card" that I will print out when I get my ink cartridges from Amazon tomorrow!! SCORE!!!  I have so much material that I will put the extra bookmarks in my treasure chest.  I have no doubt that my reader girls will gobble them up!

See, sometimes it's OK to be a teacher hoarder!! (At least that's what I tell my husband...shhhhhh!)

Hey!  Be sure to "hop" on over to Lessons with Laughter and enter Molly's $25 Target Gift Card Giveaway!  She has reached 100 followers! It's a great blog, especially for us "upper grade" teachers!

All of the great ideas I see on these blogs make me think of this quote by the great John Steinbeck:

"Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen."-- John Steinbeck

Between blogging and Pinterest...ideas are multiplying even faster than rabbits!!!!
Always,
